Samsung Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra launched, Price start $949

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra during Samsung unpacked event.

Samsung held the Unpacked event, first time an online event due to the current pandemic situation, launched quite a few things which includes Samsung Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 Plus.

Samsung moved jumped for Galaxy S10 to S20 for flagship Galaxy S series and has followed the same for the Galaxy Note Series as well.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra specs and features were pretty much leaked way before the launch and most leaks turned out to be true. Galaxy Note devices have been mostly for power users due to the screen size and overall design of the phone.

Design & Display

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will have a 6.7 inch Full HD+ AMOLED  (2400×1080), 393ppi, HDR10+ display with 60Hz Refresh rate only while the Note 20 Ultra will sport a huge 6.9 inch QHD+ AMOLED (3088×1440), 496ppi, HDR 10+ display with a variable 120Hz Refresh rate. Both the phones will have a flat display rather than curved ones and will have the Infinity-O or the punch hole display for the selfie camera. Note 20 series front has almost no bezels.

Samsung has changed the button and S-Pen location for the Note 20 series. The power and volume rocker will be on right hand side of the device and the S-Pen housing will be moved to left side. On the rear of the device will be a vertically aligned Camera module much like the Galaxy Note 20.

Note 20 series will feature the in-screen fingerprint scanner and will also have 5G capabilities and IP68 certification for both the devices. The dimensions & weight for 164.8 x 77.2 x 8.1mm, 208g for Note 20 Ultra and 161.6 x 75.2 x 8.3mm, 192g /194g.

Galaxy Note 20 will be available in Mystic Green, Mystic Gray, and Mystic Bronze colours and Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black, and Mystic White colours for Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Performance & Hardware Specs

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 plus chipset in US and other regions. Some specific markets like India will have Samsung’s own Exynos 990 chipset. Note 20 series will have up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and with 256 GB to 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra both will a micro SD slot with up to 1TB support in Single SIM + MicroSD Slot or Dual SIM Hybrid Slot.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series will have Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI on top of it. S-Pen, in design will be same as Note 100 but will have new features for provide more touch-less experience for the Note devices.

Battery & Charging

Galaxy Note 20 will be powered by 4300 mAh battery while Galaxy Note 20 will have a 4500 mAh battery. Both Note 20 devices will have 45w fast charging, 25W fast wireless charging and 9W reverse wireless charging.

Samsung says the Note 20 series can charge 0 to 100 in 30 mins.

Camera

Galaxy Note 20 will feature triple camera setup, 12MP f/1.8 standard wide angle lens, 64MP f/2.2 telephoto lens with up to 30x super zoom and 3x optical zoom and 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens Field of View 120˚. Galaxy Note 20 will support 8K video recording at 24fps.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra however will have a quad-camera module with a 108MP f/1.8 standard wide angle lens, 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens with Field of View 120˚, 13MP f/3.0 telephoto lens with up to 50x super zoom and 5x optical zoom with laser auto-focus. The Note 20 Ultra will be able to record 8K (7680 x 4320) at 24fps, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) at 60fps, 30fps and 24fps.

Front Camera on the Note 20 will have 10MP f/2.2 lens in punch hole configuration at the centre of the display.

Price & Availability

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 4G only version will cost €959 / $999 / £849 while price Note 20 5G version will start at €1,099/ $1049 / £949.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra price will start from €1,309 / $1299 / £1,179 for base model with 256 GB storage option.
